Eng3doc wants to give his opinion about the most interesting Blender tutorials. Eng3doc regards Robert Burke’s tutorial, Precision modelling, as one of the best tutorials to learn Blender for CAD experts. You can find this tutorial on this website : http://www.rab3d.com. Eng3doc took part in the Industrial Show of Rennes thanks to the collaboration of STCM (http://www.mart-inox-alu.fr/). Eng3doc offered STCM an 3D animation showing their services. Hereafter, you can see the animation:

Eng3doc’s services (virtual reality and 3D animation) were very well received by some major companies participating to the Industrial Show. Eng3doc thanks the participants of this show, particularly CREI France, STTM, Alma-Sapex, techni-industrie, for their time and expertise.

Eng3doc supported by the county Charente Maritime

For three months now, the business incubator of the French county Charente Maritime has been accommodating Eng3doc’s office in the Engineers University of La Rochelle (Eigsi). We would like to thank the business incubator for its support, collaboration and help to improve this project.

ENG3DOC joue avec la documentation technique (La Rochelle, 17) Publié le 28/01/2009

ENG3DOC est un projet très ambitieux de développement d’une plateforme en 3 Dimensions de gestion de cycle de vie d’un produit (PLM : Product Life Management). Le projet est porté par Oscar CABALLERO, salarié d’Alstom Transport en congés pour création d’entreprise. Grâce à cette plateforme, l’utilisateur pourra être formé aux manipulations de maintenance d’une machine industrielle, identifier et gérer la durée de vie des pièces qui la composent et passer commande des pièces défectueuses directement par l’intermédiaire de la plateforme 3D. Dans une optique de compétitivité, les technologies utilisées sont issues de l’Open Source : Blender, Crystal Space et B2cs. Elles permettent de fournir un service de documentation technique en 3D construit dans une logique de « jeu vidéo ». Ainsi, ENG3DOC s’utilise simplement et avec une grande souplesse. Aujourd’hui, ENG3DOC se situe à une étape cruciale de la vie du projet. La maquette développée est prête à être confrontée au marché. Objectif : obtenir le retour d’expériences d’entreprises de constructions de matériels industriels et procéder aux améliorations nécessaires pour être plus performant. ENG3DOC a passé avec succès le comité d’agrément de l’Incubateur Charente-Maritime en décembre 2008, est accompagné par la Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de La Rochelle et par l’Incubateur Régional Poitou-Charentes Etincel. Revolution in the technical documentation with free software

The combination of open technology and technical expertise offers innovative products in today’s industry. Grupo Ikusnet and Eng3doc have jointly created a revolutionary system of technical documentation used for training both technical staff and beginners and that can include all the technical information of the 3D elements as well as the maintenance process.

You will find hereunder a video of the software in action and see the great freedom of movements, some points of view programmed by the system, interactive actions, functional classification, technical information, maintenance process, etc. A picture is worth a thousand words:

This demo is the result of the hard word of a team specializing in Research and Development, Web Development, Maintenance, Engineering, 3D Design and Game logic Analysis.

The 3d files were created with Blender and some of the files have been exported from their original CAD files. The game engine is CrystalSpace, the link between Blender and CrystalSpace is b2cs. The Creative Commons Music is from Sion and the final editing was done with Audacity and Avidemux.

Agreement between Grupo Ikusnet and Eng3doc

Eng3doc has just spent five days in Valladolid, Spain, working with over forty people to reach an agreement between Grupo Ikusnet and Eng3doc in order to achieve a new product by the end of October. We will use open source to create this application and a great amount of knowledge and resources for both companies. More information will be published at the end of October.

Animation of a metro headlight assembly.

Eng3doc is working on a 3D animation project that shows the assembly of all the compounds that can be found in a metro headlight. This is the first test with volumetric light.

The animation, modelisation and texture are made with Blender, the rendering with Yafray and the computers used for the rendering are from witsbits.com.
